Frequently asked questions

Do I need fly fishing experience?
Not at all. Our guides work with complete beginners and experienced anglers alike. We start with the basics and you will be surprised how quickly you catch your first fish on a fly.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and weather-appropriate clothing. We provide everything else: fly rod, reel, line, waders, boots and flies. All included in the guiding price.
Can you pick me up from my hotel in Vienna?
Yes. We can arrange transport from central Vienna to the river and back. The drive takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the river. Just let us know your hotel when you book.
How much does it cost in total?
The guiding fee is €389 (1 person) or €279 per person (2 people). On top of that comes the day permit for the river (€40–€130) and a regional fishing card (€3–€20). We help you choose the best river for your budget. Hotel transport is available on request.
What fish can I catch?
Wild brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, pike, carp and barbel. Many of our rivers hold wild, self-sustaining populations with no stocking. On the Pielach river we also offer targeted Huchen (Danube salmon) fly fishing.
Do your guides speak English?
Yes. Several of our guides are fluent in English. Andrew Hogg is a native English speaker from Scotland. We regularly guide international guests and handle all permits and logistics for you.
When is the best time to go?
The season runs from March to December. Spring (March to May) is ideal for dry fly fishing, summer mornings offer great early hatches, and autumn (September to October) brings trophy-sized trout before the spawning season. We advise you on the best timing for your visit.
What does a typical day look like?
Meet at the river (or pickup from your Vienna hotel). Brief introduction to equipment and technique. Then 6 to 8 hours of fishing with personal coaching, a lunch break by the water or at a local restaurant. Every day is tailored to your goals and experience.
How do I book?
Send us your preferred date, target species and experience level through our contact form or via WhatsApp. We reply within 24 hours with a river recommendation and guide suggestion. No prepayment needed to reserve your spot.
