Want to tie your own flies? In our fly tying workshop at the Klejch shop in Vienna, you learn the fundamentals at the vise – tools, materials, techniques. Guided by Clemens Grohmann, you tie your first patterns in a relaxed, small-group setting and take them straight to the water. Four hours, after which you know how a hook and a few feathers become a fly that catches fish.
Materials, hooks and tools are provided – you don't need to bring anything.

What to Expect
Beginner Workshop
You start at the very beginning: Which tools do you need? Which materials for which pattern? How do you secure the hook, lay the thread and build a fly step by step? Clemens walks you through the key techniques and explains why certain patterns work on certain rivers. By the end of the workshop, you will have tied several flies ready for the water.
Advanced & Specialty Workshops
Building on the basics, we work on more complex patterns: trout streamers, various nymph techniques, classic and modern dry flies. For ambitious tyers, there are specialty sessions on predator streamers for pike and huchen. Topics are tailored to the group – let us know what you're interested in when you sign up.

What to bring
Nothing – we provide vise, tools and materials. If you already own a vise or tools, feel free to bring them. Clemens can give you tips on your setup.

At our shop: Klejch Fly Fishing & Outdoor, Thaliastraße 112, 1160 Vienna. Easy to reach by U3 (Ottakring station) or tram 46.
